When we purchased Farraige in April of 2011, the Surveyor indicated that backstay were replaced in 2007. The age of the rest of the standing rigging were unknown. Although I probably should have replaced the rigging several years ago, it is showed no signs of failure.
However, it’s clear it needed to be replaced before cruising.

The initial quotation was $7,268. I ultimately chose to add prep and paint the bottom. The out the door cost was dramatically higher, but reasonable considering the extra work needing to be done.

I have always been using Interlux Micron 66 ablative bottom paint. I generally get 2-3 seasons, if not more.
While the mast were out, I replaced the masthead antenna, added a dedicated TV Antenna, replaced the VHF coax and replaced all cabling for the all round navigation light and the steaming/deck light.
For any places I used 316 SUS bolts for attaching to the mast, the use of TefGel is a must to help prevent galvanic corrosion.
I replaced the RG-8/U coaxial cable with RG-213/U for the masthead VHF antenna. RG-8/U originally had military specifications but these specs were not audited and so the quality of the cables run from poor to great. The quality of RG-213/U cable is now pretty much guaranteed except for possibly some smaller manufacturers which fudge a little.
Both cables have roughly the same jacket diameter of 0.405″ have a loss of 2.1dB@100MHz.
For the masthead antenna, I chose the Shakespheare 5215 36″ antenna.
